I had a rebuild done on my 2002 Accent. My question is now we get a code for the output shaft speed sensor. Would this have been replaced as part of the transmission rebuild?
View 2 RepliesOkay, I have a P0720 code. I bought the Output Shaft Speed Sensor and read that it is on the back end of the transmission.
Need to confirm that it is on top of the transmission, near the tail end? Why are parts that go bad always in the most inconvenient places?
I just replaced my starter and on my first ride after replacing it the X started to stumble a bit, and then would stall out at almost every stop light. It threw a CE light and I pulled the code P0720. I searched here and it seems most guys say this is a C.O.P. issue. If it is a bad C.O.P. would it stall like that?
I did have the battery disconnected but I made sure the terminals were clean and tight. Is this a coincidence or did I do something while changing the starter?
I bought late 98 F-250, 5.4 G, 4WD. OHad to replace the steering flange because they messed up the ignition cylinder and flange. Truck didn't run for 4 years. 249K miles, no history available. Got the engine running, no DTCs. D, 3, 2, 1 barely moved the truck forward but, R hauled butt in reverse. Checked transmission fluid it was good and clean.
Came back to it a few days later it threw a P0720 (output speed sensor circuit) and I have no reverse, park feels like it wants to move, R is neutral, N is forward, D is forward, 3 is forward, 2 is forward, 1 is forward. The N is full drive. I cleared the P0720 code after it came up and it has not returned. The instrument gauges work but the odometer display is intermittent. Linkage? Fluid? Sensor? Wires?
The MIL light up and I got the P0501 Code. (Speed Sensor. I use a Scangauge II and the Speed is 0 KM/H at any speed. (was working before). But the in dash Speedometer work no problem. I look on the HMAservice web page and did not found where is located the Speed Sensor.

I've been having problems with the car shifting (automatic) i put a code reader on it and came up with p0722 output speed sensor which explains why it sometimes shifts at 4500. My two questions are where is the output speed sensor located? and what is a normal shifting range for properly running automatics?
View 2 RepliesWife's car threw a p0711 code. It says temp sensor failure or whatever. I found the part on rockauto for 22 bucks but that's not the issue. I've tried searching about this and I seem to find some stuff about elantras and sonatas. I can't seem to find anything specific to a accent. I've read that it's inside the transmission which is fine I've changed valves before and such on old rwd transmissions. But some things I find say it's on the bottom and some say the side. Also wiring is mentioned pretty often with service bulletins.

View 1 RepliesI installed a JDM 2ZZ-GE engine and 6 speed manual trans-axle into my 2000 Celica GT.
I have ran into a interesting problem. I replaced the output shaft seals and now whenever the car is in the air and the suspension is unloaded (the drive axle is pulled slightly from the trans) the drivers side seal leaks a bit of gear oil. The drive axle is snapped into place. Nothing leaks when the car is on the ground.
I did reuse the old drive axles, which had a lot of miles on them but still appeared good and useable. I have been told to replace the new seal because it may be damaged, but I am wondering if it may be that the drive axle end is worn.
I have seen this with harmonic balancers for engines. They even sell a replacement sleeve for harmonic balancers so you can re-use the old worn one.
I removed my drift shaft to get balanced since I have felt a vibration at 55-60 mph. After removing the driveshaft I noticed there is some play in the output shaft when I grab a hold of the yoke on the transmission. The play is a slightly up and down. If my memory serves me right that should not be. Seal is not leaking but need diagram of this yoke off the output shaft. I know in past on other vehicles there is sometimes a crush washer. Also what is the torque specification for that output shaft nut?

View 1 RepliesOk had a check engine light. It directed me to replace the IAT sensor.. After some research I found it was integrated into the MAP sensor. Purchased a new sensor and replaced. Drive about 15 miles CEL throws another code. P0106 (sensor i just replaced) faulty Map sensor.
Followed procedure to replace sensor.. unhook battery cable reset ecm. After reset engine is hard to start. Followed by RPM changes (assuming its the ECM re-adjusting). Then CEL flashes 5-6 times and goes out, Drive 15 miles. Map sensor code reappears. (note i only purchased one sensor But repeated install 2 times).
My thought is against wiring. since the codes refer to different signal wires one for IAT one for MAP sensor. Faulty replacement sensor?

About 3 weeks ago, I purchased a 2001 Accent GL 4dr 5spd from a friend of mine. A few days later, the CEL came on. I went to O'Reilly and got the code pulled, it was for a cam sensor input LOW. I replaced the sensor and was on my way.
Yesterday after starting the car for the first time for a few days (I wasn't driving because it needed a clutch), the light came on. Has it gone bad again or is something causing the signal to be low? Maybe a low output on the alternator or low battery? The interior lights dim slightly when the brake pedal is applied while the car is running.
Have the P1705 engine code (Direct Clutch Speed Circuit Fault) on 1996 Avalon.
I have removed it and trying to examine connectors and unit for problems.
Seems simpler to replace but cannot see spending the money on a crap shoot. Here is what I know:
Took voltage reading from each of the 2 connectors on the harness each with the key on but car not started. 1 probe to 1 connector and other probe to battery ground. Each connector displayed 0.76V.
Checked resistance across connectors on removed Sensor and it was 600+.
So...are these results determine whether the sensor is bad or the connector harness has an issue? Am I measuring incorrectly? Finally, is there only one of these sensors? I see on later models there are 2. Toyota P/N: 89413-08020
I have an 08 avalon w/ 281k miles. NEED to replace the transmission speed sensor (P0500 code thrown). Where is it located on the trans and what is the part #? I'm thinking about servicing the trans while I'm there but looks like a lot of "comments" regarding this transmission and the problems with servicing it!?
View 9 RepliesSo my little car.....driving home from jersey (about an hour and a half) and within the last 2 miles I notice the car just shut off. Not any electronics just the motor. Pulled over and tried to start it an it just cranks prolly no fuel or spark. happened to have my obdII scanner with me. It says camshaft position sensor(po342). Only code in there. Sounds simple enough. Got a new one and put it in. Just cranks. Plugs and wires were done about 3 months ago and I drive about 40 miles a day 5 days a week. I did the timing belt last spring so I opened that back up to make sure the timing hadn't jumped for some stupid reason. It's perfect. Noticed now after doing all of that there is some (a little) oil in the throttle body. I know about blow by and don't think I should have that much at 113k but who knows.
View 2 RepliesMy daughter spun her timing belt on her 1.5L accent. when she did, she bent the valve rods and all were replaced. The original code that was thrown was the one in the title. Ordered a new camshaft positioning sensor for the car. Looks a little different than factory. He installed it, and car is still pulling code. He accidentally threw away the original before confirmed that the problem was solved. Why the code is still pulling?? I can tell you this, I can clear the code, start the car and drive without code coming back on. As soon as I shut the vehicle off and restart, engine light comes on. Car runs fine. Had a complete valve job, new timing belt and water pump installed.
View 2 RepliesMy hyundai 2004 sta fe awd 3.5 LX engine light came on while cruising dwn the freeway. At the same same time i heard a loud thud and speed went down from 65 to 40mph and a high idle. I drove it home and hook up the obd2 scanner and got P0720 suggesting bad output sensor. So I decided to buy new sensor from the dealership, put it in and thought it will fix the problem. After few days the engine light came on (P0720)again with the same clunk noise and speed down from 65 to to 40 mph at high rpm. Took it home, did some experiment by putting back the old sensor. I Connected the harness back, but this time I wrap the female connector with the electrical rubber tape and electrical vinyl tape. Problem fixed. No more engine light,transmission shift smoothly. I think the connector (harness side) to the output sensor was crack that's why its not making good solid connection. The rubber tape technique held the female connector pins tightly together. New part didn't do anything but it was a learning experience.
View 1 RepliesThe MIL light came on and I noticed the shifting P-D or P-R was hard. Checked the Transmission Fluid and noticed it was low. Topped it up, but still MIL is on and shifting hard still. I bought a OBD2 Scanner and it returns P0707 "Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Low Input". Should I try clearing the DTC? It's a drag because it's my wife's car and she's driving mine.
