7 Series :: 1999 740iL Speedometer / Odometer And Instantaneous Mileage Indicator Inoperative

I have a 1999 740iL. The speedometer, odometer, and instantaneous mileage indicator are inoperative most of the time. Also, the yellow ABS indicator (and another yellow light) on the dash are also lit whenever the gauges are not working.

The ONLY time that the gauges work is when the temperature is under about 45 F, and if the car is cold. If the car warms up, or if the temperature outside warms up, the indicator lights go on and the gauges don't work.

I presume that there is some faulty connection that works when the parts are cold (contracted), and bad when the parts are warm (some degree of compression due to thermal expansion).

(One fellow said that this could be either an internal fault in the instrument cluster, internal fault in the ABS module, or faulty wheel speed sensor).

What makes the most sense, especially given the thermal nature of the problem??

Ford Ranger / B-Series :: No Speedometer / Odometer After Alternator Changed - Code P0500

1998 Ranger... I started having Speedometer/odometer problems after a power surge when my alternator went out. I knew the alternator was going bad and I tried to limp home another 5 miles rather than pay a tow bill and the alternator overcharged for a few seconds before completely dying. Since that time the only problem I am left with is my Speedometer and odometer have not worked. Scan tool says p0500 and I have replaced the ABS sensor on the differential with an OEM part but still no speedo or odo. I have checked all the fuses and relays associated multiple times. I do suspect that the RABS resistor is bad but there is no ABS light and it doesn't make sense that this one resisitor is the sle key for the whole speed control circuit. It's a manual transmission and RABS only. I swapped out the Cruise Control Servo with no luck as well. I am running out of options before having to take it to a dealer because I have to pass inspection. I have also checked and there is no power coming to 679 (GY/BK) into the instrument panel. I have also checked continuity for the rear harness to the ABS sensor and it is good.

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Speedometer / Odometer And Trip Odometer Not Working

I have a 1997 f150 4.6L 4x4 Standard Transmission and today I hopped in it to go to work, and the Speedo, Trip Odometer, and Odometer all are not working.

This is the first time it has happened to me, what could cause this or have a problem similar to this and know how to fix it?

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Accelerator Inoperative / No Dash Indicator Or O/D Lights

I have a buddy with a 1999 F250 W/7.3 TD. His property is accessed through a couple miles of hard terrain, so this may wind up being a loose ground or something that pulled loose.Anyway, the truck just all the sudden won't accelerate. It'll crank & idle all day long, but when you hit the gas.....nothing happens. I realize the diesel doesn't have an accelerator cable, as it is drive by wire. First thought was the APP sensor(accelerator), but most of the dash indicator, O/D, etc. lights are inop too.

My BMW is heating up very quickly within Min's it goes right to the middle but never overheats. I just noticed I have a bulge in my upper rad. hose. Yes I know replace asap. My question is it common for these BMW's to heat up so quickly? I was thinking about changing the therom.

1999 f-250 7.3 diesel. Speedometer doesn't work and neither does the odometer, the ABS light stays on and once you start driving the OD light starts flashing and the truck starts shifting weird. I've changed the rear ABS/VSS sensor on the diff and the OSS on top of the transmission at the tail end. Still no luck.....

7 Series :: 1998 BMW 740il Crank But No Turn Over With Full Battery Power

The car hasn't been driven in about a year, but I did start it a few months ago to let it run. The battery died, so I have just now had a chance to get a new one. I accidentally hooked it up backwards and everything came on at one time. Before I got the cables off, it had started smoking somewhere in the engine (electrical smoke) I can't find though where it came from.

Now- I have the battery on correctly and it is trying to crank, but want turnover. I have checked fuses and have no clue what to do. I have full battery power too.

Also, when I hook the batter up, one headlight comes on even though the lights are turned off. I can't it to go off other than disabling the battery.

7 Series :: BMW 740iL 2000 - Navigation System Went Black And Radio Shuts Off After 2 Minutes

I bought a new 2000 740il and the navigation system went black recently and the radio shuts off after 2 min. and you have to double click the on off to get the radio back on, then it shuts off again after 2 min. The navigation screen and system does not work and I did not disconnect the battery, lose power or get a jump, as many first ask. The dealer has no solution but to sell me a new car or a new system.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2004 F250 - Speedometer Quit Working - Stays On 0 And Odometer Stuck

2004 F250 Crewcab 4x4 5.4 automatic.

My speedometer quit working - stays on 0, my odometer stays on 271006.5 miles. Everything lights up, when I do a gauge sweep, the speedometer goes from 0 to full blast then back to zero. On the gauge sweep, my odometer states off all the code stuff like I think it's suppose to.

Anyway, I was lucky enough to get a speeding ticket - driving with the flow of traffic, with the police officer behind me for a mile or more. Pulls me over, explain my speedo just went out, he said he can't let me off but the judge might. So I'm trying to fix prior to a court date.

Here is what I have tried so far.

1. Replaced the VSS in the axle - no change to problem.
2. Replaced the sensors on top of the tranny (2 of them) - no change in problem.
3. Sent the cluster off to a repair shop - they said it worked when it left there shop - no change in problem.
4. Replaced the battery - thought it might have a dead cell. - no change in problem.
5. Unhooked the battery, turned on the headlights, waited 30 minutes, put it back together. (did this probably 5 times) - no change in the problem.
6. Replaced the diff fluid. - no change in problem.
7. Replaced the front left abs sensor on the hub - the existing wire looked like it had rubbed on metal - possible short? - no change in problem.

So far I've just been what seems to be time and money at it with no luck.

Ford - Explorer :: 1997 - High Beam Indicator Inoperative

The high beam indicator on the instrument panel stopped working. It does illuminate but is extremely dim. I changed the bulb, its one of those tiny little bulbs but that didn't work. I cleaned the connection areas where the bulb holder clicks into the back of the panel with scotchbrite, no luck.

I checked for voltage, this is where it gets interesting. I measured 6 volts. The other side is presumably ground, but my meter went a little crazy when I checked for ground, like it sensed voltage, but there is no voltage. This could be a bad ground, but where is the ground located? Buried somewhere under all those plastic panels, I suppose. And why only 6 volts? Is there some electronic control somewhere? The Chilton manual wire diagram just shows a hyper simple circuit from the high beam lights, through the indicator lamp, then to ground.

I DID replace the check engine light bulb and that works now (sarcastic hurray!). I have never seen it come on, the previous owner must have let it burn out, but the truck is in pretty decent shape for its year.

Passat (B6) :: AFS Inoperative - Indicator Light Flashes For Bulb Failure Or Malfunction

I have been to the dealer 3 times so far because of something to do with the lighting system. The MFD says "AFS Inoperative" and the indicator light flashes for bulb failure or malfunction in the adaptive front lights system.

The dealer has replaced a bulb and power module thus far, but it hasn't fixed the malfunction. The indicator light and warning comes on 4 out of 5 times I drive the car and usually within the first few minutes of driving. It occurs with our without the lights on.

The lights do work at all times, but I don't think the adaptive steering/lighting is working when the error occurs.

Prius (Gen 3) :: Mileage Discrepancy Between Odometer And GPS

Just for grins I used a GPS mileage logger app on my phone to compare to the mileage logged on the car. The app was launched well before taking off and so there was a good satellite fix.

Trip summary on the car logged 15.9 miles, and the GPS logged 15.52 miles. Tires are stock 17" Toyo Proxes down to 4/32nds. What do you think of this discrepancy?

My speedometer on my '02 Honda Civic was working, then not working. Now it doesn't work at all. I replaced the VSS, and it still isn't working. There are over 150K miles on the car. I read somewhere that it could be the alternator, but that doesn't seem to make sense to me?

I bought a 2006 Sonata V4 with 106k miles on it 2 days ago from a dealer and everything worked fine. When I got out of school yesterday the speedometer would stay at 0 and the fuel gauge has been fluctuating a bit. Also the odometer is no longer working. Shortly after this the ECS and ABS lights came on. I've read that this could be the speedo sensor but not sure.

My speedometer and odometer are not working, mechanic says it is because of a sensor he took the sensor out and showed it to me and I have pictures of it but can not find it anywhere. Also my car is a 2003 Hyundai elantra GLS

The picture attached is a picture of the sensor. What this sensor is called? Whenever I look up speed sensor or speedometer sensor it shows me something completely different. This one looks like it connects to the transmission too.

Accent LC (2000-05) :: Speedometer Stopped Working With The Odometer

On my Accent I'm having problems with the speedometer. Speedometer stopped working with the odometer as well. My temp gauge and gas gauge work fine. Check engine light came on, gave code p0501 which is the speed sensor. Just had Firestone replace it but it didn't fix the problem.

He gave me two conflicting things. He said that when he span the gears at the end of the cable there was nothing going on at the speedometer.

But then he said that the cable wasn't making contact with whatever it needs to in the transmission. So he said it was something in the transmission.

My problem with that is, if it was something in the transmission, shouldn't the speedometer have moved when he span the end of the cable with his hand? What else could it be?

I have an erratic fuel gauge. I have to reset odometer at every gas fill up to keep track of mileage. Need to replace the unit but I tried the GM Fuel treatment Plus in the gas tank first.
