View 3 RepliesMy 2001 f150 is having a issue with the dome light. Sometimes when I park with the truck leaning to the right the dome light won't shut off when closing the door. What is the name of the switch that shuts the dome off? I assume it is located behind the kick panel.
View 1 Repliesso after fueling up yesterday, The fuel door would close now. So it's propped open a few mm due to the leafspring. What is the usual fix for this? Should I unscrew the torx screw and try to adjust the actuator motor?
View 1 RepliesEvery time I get out of my 2012 prius and close the door with the key in my pocket, engine running, i get three exterior beeps. if i then open and close any other door while outside the car, i get three more beeps. i can imagine this is toyota's way of reminding me that the car is running and key is not inside. is there a way to disable this annoyance, either myself or at the dealership?
View 2 RepliesI'm not sure if this is just my unit, if so maybe I will talk to the dealer, but I noticed that the door 'rattles' when you close it while the windows are rolled down. This is true of all the doors.
I think basically the glass from the rolled down window shakes about when the door is slammed shut. You end up hearing the rattle and the general feeling is cheap. Other than that, the door feels solid if the windows are rolled up. I think maybe rolling it down, the window has less points of support on the free end. So it becomes looser and can rattle around. But when the window is rolled up, it has its free end fixed so it doesn't rattle.
So is it just my unit or does yours do that too? I noticed some cheaper cars I've either rented or test drove do this too. I believe the unit I test drove at the dealer did this too so maybe it is universal for all pre-2016 Tiguans?
I have a 2005 Phaeton V8. 69k miles...not one issue until today when she was about to recieve her saturday bath-
I got into the car to back out into the drive- and noticed that the door didn't close all the way- I had to pull the door to get it closed. I went around assessing to see if the other doors would close- and they all do just fine. The power trunk works properly- Just this drivers door- So after she got her bath- shes been garaged and I dont want to drive her risking somethings wrong.
Is there a fuse to pull to reset the pump? Do I dare disconnect the battery (I've never had to do that on this car yet). Just wanting to avoid a trip to the dealer-
So I noticed that since day 1, whenever I close the door (both driver/passenger side), part of the door rattles, almost like it reverberates. It makes the car feel really cheap, and find it hard to believe that this is normal, since I never heard this with any other Toyota. I'm not sure if it is the window rattling, or the window frame.
View 8 RepliesI noticed that my ability to preclude somebody's smelly exhaust from my interior disappeared several months ago. It seemed that when I would switch from outside air to recirc that not much would change. I would still be getting outside air through my AC, even when on recirc.
I pulled off my glove box and removed the cabin air filter to expose the mechanism. The air inlet door is a scoop shaped door right above the cabin air filter that pivots one way or the other depending on whether you were on recirc or outside air.
I can switch it using my AC controls and it does indeed move. It seats properly when on outside air mode but stops short when on recirc. It does not properly seat.
I did try the "turbo" button that is supposed to filter the hell out of your inside air and that did not affect the location of the air inlet door. As far as I can see the mechanism is moving and looks ok.
So lately I have noticed that my front doors have quite a bit of noise in them when opening and closing. I went to the store and purchased some grease it toned it down a little but the noise it still there. I know the noise is coming the bar that goes inside the door. Is there some that keep the door quiet? My door are not bent at all.

OK, I know I have an issue with clean water entering the cabin and depositing itself in the channel next to the driver's side rocker where a fair number of wires are located. It filled with water last fall and I dried it out and never thought too much more about it, but knew there was water coming in somewhere. At first I thought it was the AC, but the drain is clear and running.
It's similar to the damned TSB Bulletin No.: 01-08-45-005E that is a sticky here on the forum.
This time however, I didn't check for water in the fall and this morning in a blinding snow storm at 14F the power sliding door acted up 5 minutes before my wife left for work. By the time she got to work the damned TCS and ABS idiot lights came on, and she says the sliding door attempted to open, but she got it to close.
Now the van is 20 miles away and I won't be able to look at it until I can get it home and try to dry it out again. In the driveway in a snow storm!!!
If GM had been a little more specific about the root cause of water issues mentioned in the TSB, it would make life and fixing this problem that much easier.
I guess the roof needs adjustment since my driver side door won't close if the window is up all the way.
Checked the roof and found there is a larger gap on the passenger side than on the driver side. That causes the unevenness of the roof, I think.
Having issues with the gas door not closing. I opened it a couple days ago, and the little tit inside didn't pop back out. I messed around with the lever under the steering wheel and with the unit inside the gas door. Got the tit to pop out, but once I opened it again, it didn't stay out. Not sure if I need a new cable from the pull lever to the door, or just the unit that's inside the gas door.
View 1 RepliesUndercarriage rattling when closing the driver door? Sounds metal and rattles for a split second. It caught me off guard the other day and here's a video of it.

I think the door when closed leaves too much space for dirt and mud to accumulate. Especially combined with the fact that the car has no mud guards. Usually wont complain about something like this but this happens just a day or 2 after detailing the car.
View 14 RepliesWinter is here and its the first winter i've had my 2006 Passat 3.6l. After a long night of freezing weather i attempt to open the door. After getting it loose, It wont seal close. When i shut the door it will just bounce off and open again.
My temp solution is to hold the door closed and press the lock key. The door then partially locks closed and then i have to pull it hard to make the seal close completely.
With my Phaeton has the power convenient closing was working on all four doors (the feature that automatically closes the door if you close it almost all the way.) Now it is working only 3. The driver's door no longer has power convenient closing. What the possible cause or remedy is?
View 8 RepliesMy 08 gs350 makes a clicking noise when you open the doors really wide and again as you close it. I've tightened all the screws around the door check... Also lubed it as good as possible.
Could it be something to do with the door check pin? How do you replace it?
When I shut my driver's door there is a reverberating sound similar to a spring being stretched and then plucked. It closes fine, the window works, and all the functions of the door work. It closes tight. It just has this hollow spring sound right after I close the door. None of the other doors make this sound.
I was at the local Toyota Dealer today for work on the prius (check my other thread about that trip) and I found a gen II prius unlocked... so I got in and closed the door and no spring sound. It sounded just like my other 3 doors... so something must be up with my door. My car is a 2006 Prius with JBL package.
I can lock the doors with the key fob but it does not beep. The alarm sets, and the passenger doors all lock, but the drivers door does not. I have checked that all doors are closing properly, and the transmission is in park.
I also tried both key fobs with the same result. The alarm LED flashes about 6 times before glowing steady - is this a code of some sort?
My jeep liberty 2002 has been sitting for two weeks. Noticed rear door latch opening and closing. So I unhooked battery. I figured battery was dead tried to hook charge to it but it keep discharging kicking off charger. Whats going on? Tried jumping but it was still discharging?
